이번 휴가에는 세계의 수도라는 뉴욕을 방문해 보자.
뉴욕은 다른 교통편 없이 지하철로 대부분 접근할 수 있다.

뉴욕의 지하철은 세계에서 가장 큰 대중교통 수단이다.

평일 평균 500만명 이상 이용하고 있다.

지하철 1회 탑승 비용은 2.5달러이다. 버스와 같다.

7일 프리패스는 29달러이다.

일주일 사이 13번 이상만 타면 본전을 뽑는다.
지하철 입구에서 표를 개찰하고 들어가며 나올 때는 그냥 나오면 된다. .

특급 express 노선은 흰색 동그라미 역에서만 정차한다.

문제는 노후화이다.

너무 낡아 사고가 잇따르고 있다.

28일에도 뉴욕 지하철 사고가 발생했다.

뉴욕 데일리 뉴스 보도에 따르면 이날 오전 10시께 맨해튼 할렘 지역을 지나던 C노선 지하철이 125번가 부근 터널에서 탈선했다.

이어 지하철 안의 전등이 나갔다.

승객들은 열차에서 내려 깜깜한 터널을 빠져나왔다.

For public transportation in New York City you have two main options. They work on the same system with the same tickets so you can combine the two for the same price.

RIDING THE SUBWAY WITH NEW YORK METRO CARD

New York subway system can be a bit intimidating at first, and the locals do rush around so you might feel the pressure of someone right behind you in line getting ever more impatient.

To enter you have to swipe your Metro Card through a reader and then wait for the display to say, “go.” Unfortunately, this isn’t as easy as it sounds at times. It can be kind of tricky at first, but if you can’t seem to get it working you are not alone. Just watch other people and do what they do.

For many decades the New York City subway system had a reputation for being dirty and dangerous. The famous graffiti is long gone, but the stations and carriages sometimes still do suffer from people unable to find the abundant station trashcans.

The bigger issue is safety, and fortunately there is good news there as well. The amount of crime reported throughout the system is way down from its peak, but that’s not to say you shouldn’t be cautious.
